Rajkot Builders Association has asked Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) to make necessary changes in urban town planning act so as to enable them to construct a 30-storey building in the city in future.
RUDA has recently sought suggestions from people and various organisations and RBA is claimed to be the first body in the state to have conducted a survey and made suggestion to the urban development authority.
"We have conducted a survey before giving suggestions to RUDA, which is preparing its master development plan 2031," said RBA president Hitesh Bagdai.
According to the survey, Rajkot covers around 686 sq km land with population of over 16 lakh and city's population is expected to be almost doubled by 2031.
"In our suggestions to RUDA, we have asked the authority to make changes in urban town planning act and asked them to allow more height according to road width. If our suggestion is accepted by the authority then builders of the city would be given permission to construct 30-storey building in Rajkot," Bagdai said.
Currently, the authority has given permission to construct a 21-storey building.
