State Election Commissioner S R Upadhyay today said re-polling will be ordered in four booths if data from EVMs are not retrieved.
In four booths under Raghunathpur, Murshidabad and Madhyamgram municipalities where results were announced today, problems have been reported with EVMs.
"If the EVMs are not retrieved, there will be re-polling. Engineers from Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) have gone and if they are not able to retrieve the data, then re-poll will be ordered," Upadhyay told reporters here.
When asked about demands by opposition parties for re-counting in some booth including ward number 100 in Kolkata Municipal Corporation, the official said for the sake of transparency the decision would be taken by the Municipal Residing Officers.
"I have heard they are saying no recounting is needed," he said.
On post-poll violence, he said the SEC has so far not received any information on untoward incidents.
"We have spoken with district SPs and the police commissioner to take specific actions if any incident is reported," he said.
Upadhyay also demanded that during the polls, the civic and police administration should be under SEC control.
