Relabeled stocks of old fruit juice seized

Authorities here today seized a huge quantity of old stock fruit juice, manufactured by a Jammu-based company, which had been dispatched to the Valley with fresh labeling, and sent the samples for testing.
A team of food safety officers here, on a routine inspection found the fruit juice manufactured by a Bari Brahamana, Jammu, based industry in a suspicious condition having been relabeled, officials said.
They said on investigation, it was found that the company had recalled this product earlier and the same had been supplied to Valley with fresh date of manufacture and batch number, whereas previous labeling requirements had been erased.

Huge quantity of such items that were affected during the floods, which comprised more than 1,050 cases, each case containing 24 bottles, were seized and sample of the same sent to the food analyst, the officials said.
The seized items shall be destroyed as per the directions of the High Court at a proper place, they said.
