After a star-studded launch, billionaire Mukesh Ambani will begin the commercial roll out of the telecom venture Reliance Jio in the coming weeks.

Reliance Industries had yesterday announced the launch of 4G service for its employees under the Jio brand name.

At the event, which brought Ambani's twin children Akash and Isha to the centre stage for the first time, he said "Jio is not about technical brute force but to re-imagine how to do things better."

"Why Jio? Because life is going digital," he said setting a target of 100 million customers in first year.

The event featured Reliance Jio's brand ambassador and bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as well as music director A R Rahman perform.

"Jio is not just 4G, it is an ecosystem that will prepare the future generation for the world," said Nita Ambani, wife of Mukesh Ambani.

Akash Ambani said, "When Isha and I decided to return from the US, we were just following the footsteps of our father who returned from the US and our grandfather who returned from Aden."

When Shah Rukh Khan asked Isha what is Jio, she replied, "It is everything that makes a digital ecosystem."

"I have come from Fauji to 4G," the superstar remarked.

Rahman said, "I need technology to get peace."

Meanwhile, '#CelebratingJio', the star-studded launch of the telecom venture at Reliance Corporate Park, was among the top 10 trending events yesterday.
