The idol was removed late last night by police personnel in presence of district officials, police said.
Most of the people who were sitting there had already left for their homes before the idol was removed and rest were peacefully sent too, they said.
Police force is still deployed at the spot to prevent any untoward situation, they said.
Some people had yesterday installed a religious idol on a plot in front of Tanga chowk following which people from other community objected, claiming that it was their land.
SDM Yogesh Mehta had then reached the spot along with police and attempted to resolve the situation.
