Asked as to what he meant when referred to the allegation that a "family" was a beneficiary in the chopper deal, Javadekar said there were reports that a family had got a payment of Rs 200 crore and his party wants to know who that family was. He did not elaborate. Former Air chief S P Tyagi has been accused of being a beneficiary of alleged kickbacks said to have been received by his three cousins but he has denied any wrongdoing. On the charges levelled by Congress that tweaking of the requirement norms for the VVIP helicopters was done during NDA rule, Javadekar said, "Congress always tries to drag the NDA but this does not work. All these sins are of the UPA." In reply to another question about allegation against some top government functionaries at the time of the deal, Javadekar said, "A probe is a probe. An honest probe will give the results." BJP alleged that Congress always follows a "pattern" when a scam comes to light. "At first Congress tries to diffuse a scam, then denies there is a scam, then evades answering questions about the scam, and then tries not to hold an inquiry. Further, it tries to cover up the scam, and finally tries to deflect attention from it. Corruption is the hallmark of the Congress-led UPA regime," Javadekar alleged.
