restaurateurs sentenced to 6 months rigorous imprisonment

The owner and a manager of a bakery-cum-restaurant have been sentenced to six months rigorous imprisonment by the Chief Judicial Magistrate here for using domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purpose.
The proprietor and manager of Belli Amies Restaurant Manisha Thakuria and Basant Konwar, respectively, were found guilty for possession of three empty domestic LPG cylinders at the restaurant premises last month.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Darak Ullah today sentenced them to six months rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each, in default of which they will have to undergo simple imprisonment of another one month.
The judgment stated that the offence had an impact on the public distribution system and thereby affected the common people. It also encouraged black marketing of essential commodities, thus destroying and destabilising the entire scheme.
