BJP in Kerala today said revenue from GST has increased in the state, contrary to Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac's claim that the state suffered revenue loss due to the Goods and Services Tax.

"The state Finance Minister should show courage to admit that GST revenue has gone up in Kerala," BJP State President Kummanom Rajasekharan said in a release here today.

The BJP leader said that as per official records, there was a considerable increase in the GST revenue.

The revenue of the tax department registered a 11.19 per cent increase at the end of financial year March 31 last, the fiscal year when GST was implemented, he said.

The tax revenue stood at Rs 37,849 crore and of this, income from GST was Rs 13,967.70 crore, the BJP leader said.

This also included an amount of Rs 2,508 crore given by the Centre to compensate the revenue loss, he said.

"The state Finance Minister should stop the politically motivated campaign against GST," he said.
