"Ritabrata will be a liability for the party. Given the tough conditions the party is facing, it was the need of the hour to send someone who is a fighter by nature, not a person like Ritabrata who comes from a club culture without any contact with the masses," Mollah told PTI.
The maverick party leader had sent a fax to the media expressing his anger against the nomination of Banerjee for the RS seat.
When inquired whether his outburst against the party leadership would put him in trouble, Mollah said "I am not afraid of any action. Let them do whatever they want to do. I have said all these things within the party on several occasions, but nothing was done."
CPI(M) candidate and SFI all India general secretary Banerjee had filed his nomination for the RS seat yesterday.
