The robbers entered the house of Chandrakanta Jain in Vidhyadhar Nagar area in the wee hours today, but could not execute the loot as a police patrol van reached there.
After hearing siren of the patrol van, the gang members fled from the house to hide in a bush, and then attacked the policemen with their catapult (gulel), injuring three.
Police managed to arrest three of the gang members -- Durgesh, Kuldeep and Kullu -- all hailing from Ashok Nagar in Madhya Pradesh, they said.
The gang had been active in the state capital for quite some time, and their whereabouts are being cross-checked with Madhya Pradesh Police, they said.
