'Rock On 2' will have Akhtar and Arjun Rampal reprise their roles from the original film, while 'Ek Villain' star Shraddha Kapoor is the new addition.
Ritesh Sidhwani, who is producing the film with Akhtar, revealed the movie's location on Twitter.
"I've got Banglore Delhi Goa Shimla till now as the possible location for #Rockon2. Sab Galat hai (all options are wrong). Come on try harder. Shillong it is," he tweeted.
The movie will be directed by debutant Shujaat Saudagar. Actress Prachi Desai, who played Akhtar's wife in the original will be seen in a pivotal role in the sequel.
