In a bid to further increase its pace resources in the coming years, the PCB has decided to send five rookie pacers to join the national camp in Abbotabad that begins from May 3 to help prepare the 15-member Pakistan squad for the ICC Champions Trophy in England.
The Board today announced that young fast bowlers, Ahmed Jamal, Zia ul Haq, Mohammad Aftab, Sarmad Anwar and Ataullah would train with the national team at the camp.
The five youngsters also attended the specialised fast bowlers camp held in Karachi for 10-days under the supervision of Pakistan's former captain and great, Wasim Akram.
Akram will also be visiting the Abbotabad camp for three days to further work with the national team bowlers.
Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Asad Ali, Ehsan Adil and Wahab Riaz have been selected in the Pakistan squad for the Champions Trophy.
"The five youngsters have been asked to train in the national camp so that they can gain exposure and experience," the board said in a statement.
Jamal from Abbotabad scooped up the one million rupees prize during the hunt for fast bowlers held recently in Karachi by bowling the fastest delivery of 143 KPH.
Talking about the camp, Akram said, "There is a lot of talent out there but obviously these bowlers will only get better after playing regularly. A fast bowler only expands and improves his art and skills by playing regularly and working hard on his fitness.
