The man, a beggar at the railway station, was asked to leave the station complex by constable P N Singh as loiterers and unauthorised people are not allowed at the station, one of the busiest in the country, for security reasons last evening, the ER sources said.
An altercation broke out between him and the constable, who later thrashed the physically challenged man, they said.
Singh has been suspended and an investigation ordered into the incident, the sources said.
It was stated that apart from security reasons, a cleanliness drive is also on at the station and begging has been banned at the station.
