Acting on a tip-off, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials keeping track of gold smuggling from Sri Lanka nabbed two nationals from that country here today, a DRI press release said.
Gold bars and plates and crude jewellery weighing 3.45 kg and worthRs 1.30 crore was seized from them, following which they were arrested.
In separate incidents, DRI officials seized 1,000 currency notes of U.S. Dollars equivalent to Rs 67.50 lakh from three passengers who arrived here late last night from Singapore.
In the second incident, foreign currencies valued at Rs 34.89 lakh were seized from two passengers who arrived from Singapore here yesterday.
In the third incident, Rs 28 lakh of Indian currency was seized from two passengers who were about to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur from Chennai from here, the release said.
