Rangasamy, who returned here yesterday after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and some other union ministers in New Delhi, told reporters that he had sought around Rs 400 crores for relief works in Puducherry, which faced the rain fury recently.
"I am confident that the Centre would concede our plea," he said.
The Chief Minister said he had also sought an immediate sanction of Rs 500 crores under the Plan head for the current fiscal (2015-16) to Puducherry.
Health and Municipal staff have been deployed to carry out fogging and other related measures to prevent occurrence of any water borne diseases post floods anywhere in the region, he said.
The PWD and Local Administration Departments were taking steps to repair all the roads and thoroughfares damaged during the recent rains, he added.
He said each of the 3.10 lakh families coming under the public distribution system would be paid Rs 4,000 as flood relief and the disbursement would begin next week by crediting the amount in the bank accounts of the families.
