The Old Goa police received a complaint from the state government over the alleged suicide attempt by the woman, who was rescued along with another foreigner by Calangute Police last month from racketeers operating in the northern coastal belt, Investigating Officer Sagun Sawant said today.
According to the authorities concerned, the woman tried to end her life yesterday by slashing one of her wrists.
The woman complained about delay in releasing her from the protection home being run by the Women and Child Welfare Department, she said.
A parallel inquiry has been launched by the department into how the woman managed to secure the blade to cut her wrist.
