The company had posted a net profit of Rs 37.23 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal, S Chand said in a statement.
Total income for the quarter under review stood at Rs 210.6 crore as compared to Rs 183.9 crore in the same period last year, up by 14.53 per cent.
Commenting on the results, S Chand and Company MD Himanshu Gupta said: "We continue to focus on delivering quality content to educators and students and endeavour to increase our presence in the education content market while creating value for our shareholders."
The company's board has recommended a final dividend of Rs 1.25 per share for FY17.
Shares of the company closed 1.62 per cent down at Rs 554.10 on BSE.
