The Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata party will hold a joint meeting of its core groups on June 3 at Jalandhar to evolve a joint strategy to corner the Congress-led Punjab government.
Union minister Vijay Sampla met SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal in this regard today, a party spokesman said here.
Both the leaders said the Congress government had miserably failed to maintain law and order and there was a paralysis in governance with all development work at a standstill.
"Besides, the government is a mute spectator as Congress workers run amok and unleash the reign of terror and repression in the state," Badal said.
He said besides evolving a joint strategy to counter the Congress repression against SAD-BJP cadre, the meeting would also come out with a party programme to force the new government to fulfil the promises made to the people, including complete loan waiver and a job per family in the state.
The joint meeting would also access the results of the last elections.
The SAD chief said efforts would also be made to ensure smooth coordination between the allies and stressed the need for a joint coordination committee.
"This will allow for quick decisions," he added.
SAD could bag only 15 seats and its ally BJP three in the recently held state assembly polls, relegating the alliance to a poor third position after rookie Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
