Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala announced to the media the candidature of Sajeendran.
Ruling CPI-M led LDF has fielded P Sreeramakrishnan as its candidate for the election to be held tomorrow and he is set to be elected going by the strength of the front in the Assembly.
The LDF has 91 MLAs against UDF's 47 members in the 140-member Assembly.
"We do not want either the vote of the lone BJP MLA O Rajagopal or that of P C George, who had contested as independent candidate in the May 16 Assembly polls. The UDF will function as a strong opposition both inside and outside the Assembly," Chennithala said.
