Sam Raimi, who directed the original "Evil Dead" trilogy, will return to his post as a helmer for "Army of Darkness 2".
The confirmation comes straight from Fede Alvarez, the director of the "Evil Dead" remake, which was released this April, reported Ace Showbiz.
"Sam Raimi will helm the upcoming sequel to 1992's 'Army of Darkness'," the Uruguayan director tweeted.
The original cast Bruce Campbell, who co-produced the recent remake with Raimi, is expected to reprise his demon-slashing role in the forthcoming sequel.
He recently assured that the movie was happening despite the long delay.
"The last one was twenty-two years ago. I just haven't been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I used to be busy. Now I'm not," the actor said.
While Raimi moves forward with "Army of Darkness 2", Alvarez hopes to make a sequel to his "Evil Dead" reboot. After the release of both films, the two worlds (Jane Levy's Mia and Campbell's Ash) might come together for one final installment.
