Santhali film artistes and social and tribal organisations will organise a charity show here next month for popular filmmaker Dasrath Hansdah, whose ancestral house was gutted in fire recently.
The Santhali director-producer lost everything, including the master disc of his several films worth Rs seven lakhs, in a fire that broke out in his ancestral house in Pudihasa, on the outskirts of steel city on May 13.
The show will be held on June 7 and the proceeds will be given to Hansdah, C R Manjhi, General Secretary of Disom Jaher, Karandih, said today at a press conference here.
Manjhi said Hansdah's super-hit Santhali movie "Aalom Re Jia Aa Sakom Sindoor" will also be screened at the show.
The director rued his biggest loss was the hard disc containing half a dozen Santhali movies, including the award-winning "Sita Nala Re Sagun Supari", which was screened at the Indigenous Film Festival at Nepal in 2005, two master cassettes and spool recordings.
Among the films stored in the hard disc included "Boha Maya" ('Brother's affection'), "Kherwal Jumid" ('Unity of Tribal'), "Sagun Ena Sohaag Dolar", he said.
Leading Santhali actors including Bir Baha Hansdah, Rajuraj Biruli, Lakhan Soren, Manoj Hembram, Raju Mitra, Manjula Mardi and Dusashan Sakila will perform at the charity show.
