Sayed, Abhishek and Sowmya win gold in National Taekwondo

Sayed Hassan Rezay and Abhishek Dubey won the gold in men's category, while M C Sowmya bagged the yellow metal in the women's competition of the Kukkiwon Cup-India Open National Taekwondo Championship at Talkatora Stadium here.
Adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the Championship, Sayed Hassan Rezay from Afghanistan was awarded a Hyundai Eon Car on the last day of the tournament.
"I am very happy after winning this championship because this is the first time I am playing in India, although I have won many medals at an International level," said Rezay, who won the gold in senior men above 18 category.
Abhishek Dubey, who received a gold medal in senior men Poomsae category for the best player, said he is delighted to win the gold in his last championship.
"This was my last championship as a player and now I will continue to coach my students at a national level," said the 23-year-old international coach from Mumbai, who received a LG Blueray DVD Players.
"I have won internationally also and it is a great feeling to win a gold medal as a part of my last championship."
M C Sowmya, who won a gold medal in senior women Poomsae above 18 category, said: "I started my career from the age of 4 and have won many awards at national and state level tournament. My father was also an Olympic referee who has always motivated me towards this game."
Organised by the Korean Cultural Center, the Taekwondo Championship concluded yesterday at the Talkatora Stadium.
H E Joon-gyu Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea along with Randhir Singh, Committee member of the International Olympic, inaugurated the championship as a part of the celebrations of Indo-Korean 40th Diplomatic year.
