"The SC Commission has considered this incident a heinous crime in a democratic society," Commission chairman Rajesh Bagha said in a statement here.
Considering the "seriousness" of the issue, the Commission summoned Additional Director General of Police (Crime) for personal hearing with an action taken report on March 10, he said.
"Such types of incidents are unbearable," he said.
He said that the state machinery should have taken a prompt action by nabbing all the culprits.
"The highly objectionable language used by some persons against Shri Guru Ravidas is highly condemnable," Thandal, who is also Jail Minister of Punjab, said in a statement here.
The Punjab government is committed to maintain law and order in the state and any action to disrupt peace and religious harmony in the state would not be tolerated, he said.
