Tamil Nadu CPI(M) secretary G Ramakrishnan today sought a CBI probe into the granite scam, in which the Sagayam Committee had submitted a 600 page report in the High Court.

He also urged Tamil Nadu government to set up a Lokayukta to prevent corruption, he said.

On People Welfare Front (PWF), in which his party is a constituent, Ramakrishnan said the front will create a new political culture in Tamil Nadu.

A conference to highlight the common minimum programme of PWF will be held in Madurai on January 26, he said adding party general secretary Sitharam Yechuri and CPI general secretary Sudhakar Reddy will participate in it.

The front has already invited DMDK to join in it, he said.

Though the Election Commission has announced to utilise social networking to prevent irregularities in the poll process, it should also take stringent action against such people and also prevent the distribution of money, he said.

The notification on Jallikkattu (taming the bull) was a welcome step, but some political parties were trying to gain political mileage out of it, Ramakrishnan said.
