School bus helper gets 5 years for sexually assaulting minor

A court here on Thursday sentenced a 65-year-old helper of a private school bus to five-years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for sexually assaulting an minor girl student onboard the vehicle in 2017.

First Additional Metropolitan Sessions JudgeSuneetha Kunchala found the accused guilty under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and sentenced him to undergo RI of five-years.

The court also convicted the man under IPC section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Additional Public Prosecutor K Pratap Reddy said.

All the sentences shall run concurrently, the judge said.

The court also imposed a total fine of Rs 3,000 on the man.

According to prosecution, on November 21, 2017, the accused misbehaved with the eight-year-old girl by touching her private parts and threatened her not to disclose it to anyone.

After reaching home, the girl informed the matter to her father, who filed a complaint with the police following which a case was registered and the accused was arrested.
