Shocked by the grisly terror attack in Peshawar, private schools in Delhi and neighbouring cities are initiating a series of preventive measures on their own to enhance security of the students besides complying with directives of police.
A number of schools also sent communications to parents of the students seeking their cooperation to enhance security measures in the schools.
"Given the prevalent situation, which calls for special safety measures, requests are made to parents to avoid coming to school without prior intimation and appointment or unless absolutely necessary," said a message by Sardar Patel Vidyalaya to the parents of the students.
Delhi Police has also enhanced security in and around the schools in the national capital.
"We have enhanced security in our school. School authorities have deployed three more security guards at entry points as part of necessary precautions. Besides, a PCR van is also deployed outside the the school. The entry of outsiders has been restricted in the school premises," principal of Bal Bharti Public School L V Sehgal said.
Usha Ram, principal of Laxman Public School, said that "school authorities have added two more security guards and all visitors, including parents, are being allowed to enter the school only after their identity is examined by security guards. Some cops are also patrolling outside the school".
Schools in neighbouring Noida have also taken measures to improve security for the students.
"Please co-operate with the security guards and do ensure that you carry the entry sticker passes for all members accompanying you. Entry is strictly on the basis of identification and sticker passes. Please avoid carrying extra bags as all bags will be checked at the entry point," said a message to parents by the Shriram Millennium School in Noida.
