Shiv Sena, which is BJP's partner in Maharashtra and at the Centre, is considering contesting the Delhi Assembly elections to be held next month.
"We are thinking about contesting the Delhi polls. A final decision will be taken soon. However, there has been no talk so far on a poll alliance with anyone," Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray said here today.
Uddhav said his party is fully supportive of the cause of farmers, after Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana supporters went on a rampage at Sakhar Sankul, the sugar commissioner's office at Pune on Monday demanding more remunerative prices for their produce.
"Shiv Sena is in the government but if injustice is being meted out to farmers, we will support farmers," Uddhav said.
Reacting to three former Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) MLAs joining BJP, Uddhav said, "Such wanderers are everywhere. One can only hope that they get stability in some party".
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Manikrao Thakre said here today that neither the Centre nor the Maharashtra state government are supportive of the farmers's cause.
"The Congress will organise protests in all districts during January 21 to January 25 against the government's anti-farmer policies," Thakre told reporters here.
"We will also hold road blockage agitations in the state next month if the government fails to provide relief to farmers reeling under the acute drought," Thakre said.
