At least seven suspected terrorists have been killed in the outskirts of the city by Pakistani security agencies, as they stepped up their drive against militants after the Peshawar school massacre.
The suspected militants were killed in two separate incidents since last night, a spokesman for the Paramilitary Rangers said.
"Four of them were killed in Janjal Goth while three were killed on the Northern Bypass when they opened fire on a Rangers patrolling party," he said.
In the first incident, four terrorists were killed after an exchange of fire with Rangers, who were conducting a search operation in a slum area.
The Rangers were searching for hideouts of banned outfits when the militants fired at them, the spokesman said, adding that four militants were killed while one escaped.
In another incident three other terrorists were killed on the Northern Bypass when they did not stop near a Rangers check post and opened fire on a patrol party.
A senior official of the Rangers was also injured in the firing.
