Showers continued to lash Kashmir for a second day today, throwing normal life out of gear with water-logging and traffic snarls occurring at several areas of the city.
Moderate to heavy rainfall was reported across Kashmir Valley where temperatures dropped by as much as eight notches below normal, a MeT official said.
The rainfall has led to a change in conditions with people welcoming the relief from the scorching heat which had been sweeping the Valley over the past few weeks.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, was hit by 29.9mm rainfall till 8:30 A.M., the official said.
The ski-resort of Gulmarg received 29.8mm of rainfall and saw the maximum slide to 14 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgham in south Kashmir registered a maximum of 19.9 degrees and recorded 34.4mm rainfall.
Qazigund received 54.8mm rainfall followed by Kupwara (51.2mm) while temperatures stood at 22.5 and 20.3 degrees, respectively, in the two towns.
Meanwhile, waterlogging at many places in Srinagar caused problems for pedestrians and also hampered the movement of traffic.
The rainfall has also led to a rise in the levels at water bodies across the Valley.
