Advocate Commissioners, who were appointed to inspect the tank by the Madurai Bench of the HC and submit a report, suggested that the drainage outlets found in the premises around the temple tank should be blocked by the shrine's Executive officer.
They also suggested in their report, which was submitted today, that authorities of the temple tank should visit it once in three months, and ensure that it was maintained clean and garbage free.
The issue of cleaning the tank had been taken up by the court based on a newspaper report. The court ordered appointment of a two-member advocate commission to inspect the tank and file a report.
The Division Bench of Justice R Sudhakar and Justice V M Velumani ordered that the temple tank should be maintained like the Lotus temple tank inside Meenakshi temple.
