Shweta leads on Day 2; Smriti slips to tied third

Rookie Shweta Galande played a stable round, carding a total of 132 after 36 holes, to lead in the penultimate round of the ninth Leg of Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour, here today.
Overnight leader and veteran Delhi golfer Smriti Mehra failed to firm up her lead as she was tied third with local golfer Sharmila Nicollet.
Aditi Ashok, who trails Shweta by six shots, is placed second after 36 holes.
The INR 6,00,000 event is being played at the par-70, Clover Greens golf course situated on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Shweta's round consisted of two bogeys on the 6th and 13th holes and six birdies on the 9th, 10th, 12th, 15th, 17th and 18th holes. City Golfer Aditi with a total score of 138 (68,70) is placed second after the second round. Her round consisted of four bogeys on the 4th, 5th, 14th and 16th holes. She got four birdies on the 3rd, 7th, 12t and 17th holes.
Smriti (64, 75) failed to capitalise on her lead from the first round to be placed at the tied third with Bengaluru golfer Sharmila (70, 69) with identical total scores of 139 after 36 holes.
Smriti had a disastrous round with one double bogey on the 2nd hole followed by four bogeys on the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 15th holes. Her only respite was a lone birdie on the 12th hole.
Sharmila, who is back in action after nursing an ankle injury, played a consistent round with birdies on the 2nd, 11th and 12th holes and two bogeys on the 4th and 18th holes.
Delhi golfer Vani Kapoor with a total score of 140 (73, 67) after the second round is placed fifth while Saaniya Sharma from Chandigarh is placed sixth with a total score of 142 (75, 67) after the second round.
