Sibal files nomination papers for Chandni Chowk constituency

Union Minister Kapil Sibal today filed his nomination papers from Chandni Chowk constituency, even as AAP candidates Ashish Khetan and Anand Kumar entered the poll fray from New Delhi and North East constituencies respectively.
Among other prominent nominations filed today, BJP candidate Maheish Girri filed his nomination paper from East Delhi.
As many as 19 candidates filed their nomination papers today for the April 10 Lok Sabha polls in Delhi.
Delhi Election Commission said it received 29 applications from 19 candidates out of which one each was filed by Congress and BJP, two from AAP and five were filed by independents.
The rest were received from other registered parties including BSP, Naya Daur Party and Bhartiya Janta Dal (Integrated) among others.
"So far 44 nominations have been received from 34 candidates from all the seven constituencies of Delhi. Five nominations each have been received from Chandni Chowk and North East Delhi constituencies today, while eight were received from East Delhi.
"Three nominations each have been received from West and South Delhi, while one from North West Delhi," said an election official.
The filing of nominations will continue till March 22. After scrutiny on March 24, candidates can withdraw their nominations till March 26.
