Sikh preacher Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, who was attacked recently, today sought a CBI probe into the incident, saying he had no faith in the inquiry instituted by the state government.
Unidentified assailants had opened fire at the cavalcade of Dhadrianwale on May 17 in which he had a narrow escape, but his aide Bhupinder Singh Khalsa was shot dead.
Meanwhile, 'Antim Ardas' (post-death) ritual for Khalsa was performed at his native village, Khassi Kalan, about 15 kms from here.
Speaking on the occasion, the preacher said Sikh community members would present memoranda to the Deputy Commissioners of their respective districts seeking a CBI probe on the issue on May 30.
The Sikh preacher said the community had no connection with elements raising provocative slogans or indulging in any kind of violence on the issue.
"I was the target of those who had attacked my convoy on May 17 at Ludhiana. It was only an act of mistaken identity that Sant Bhupinder Singh became the victim," he said.
