Similipal sanctuary to reopen from Nov 1

After remaining closed during the rainy season, the world famous Similipal sanctuary and tiger reserve in Odisha will reopen for tourists from November one.
Tourists would be allowed to visit the largest tiger reserve of Odisha through two entry points at Pithabata and Jamuani, a communique issued by Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) authority said.
Twenty-five and 35 vehicles per day would be allowed to enter the picturesque sanctuary through Pithabata and Jamuani check points respectively after obtaining necessary permission from the authority between 7 AM and 9 AM.
The visitors would not be allowed to roam the sanctuary area beyond 5 PM, the communique said.
However, tourists wanting to stay overnight may be allowed at Jamuani, Ramatirtha and Gudugudia rest houses which can be booked in advance.
The sanctuary, which is endowed with varied flora and fauna coupled with rich wildlife, attracts visitors from across the globe each year.
The sanctuary was closed from June 15 following the onset of rainy season as roads are washed away during this period.
