SIT to probe Congress leader's killing in Jharkhand

A six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Koderma Deputy Superintendent of Police has been formed to probe into the killing of Koderma District Congress Committee president, Shankar Yadav, an official release said today.
Expressing shock over the killing of Yadav, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das had ordered the constitution of a SIT to start the investigation immediately.
The SIT will be led by deputy SP Karampal Oraon. the release said.
The Jharkhand CID, police and Koderma district police would assist the team in the investigation, it said.
The chief minister also sought details of the incident from Koderma Superintendent of Police, Shivani Tiwari, and directed her to apprehend the culprits as early as possible.

Meanwhile, the Congress as well as other opposition parties today put up a road blockade near Jhumri on National Highway 31 with the bodies of Yadav and his driver and a personal bodyguard, who were killed in the incident.

The blockade was led by Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president, Ajoy Kumar.
Traffic on the Natonal Highway between Ranchi and Patna was disrupted for around seven hours since morning and the blockade was lifted following an assurance by Koderma Deputy Commissioner Bhubaneswar Prasad Singh and Superintendent of Police Shivani Tiwari to arrest the culprits soon.
Yadav, who was travelling in his SUV along with his driver and personal bodyguard, was killed yesterday evening when unidentified miscreants hurled a bomb on the vehicle.

Yadavs driver and his personal bodyguard were grievously injured and were rushed to a hospital in Koderma, where the personal bodyguard succumbed to his injuries.
The driver was shifted to Ranchi for better treatment but he too succumbed late last night, police said.
