Sitharaman, the Commerce and Industry Minister in the Narendra Modi government, held discussions in Hyderabad with senior representatives of CII, FICCI and local body -- Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry -- on the matter of industrial development of the country's newest state.
"Discussions were held with industry representatives to understand/ideate strategy for rapid industrial development of Telangana," Sitharaman said in a tweet after the meeting.
In her maiden visit to Hyderabad after assuming office, Sitharaman had said yesterday that the Centre was committed to the development of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the thrust would be on industrial development in the two states.
The emphasis would be on promoting food processing industries in the new state of Telangana, which came into existence on June 2, she had said.
