Six dead bodies recovered from canal in Etawah

Bodies of six people who were reported missing since past five days, were today recovered from a canal here along with the car they were travelling in, police said.
All the deceased who belong to Kanpur have been identified as Sunil Pandey (38), his wife Sangeeta (35), daughter Madhvi (15), son Rajat (13), brother-in-law Ganesh Chaturvedi (25) and a friend Rahul Dwivedi. One Alto car in which they were travelling was also recovered from the canal in Sarai Bhupat area this morning, SSP Dinesh Kumar said.
The incident came to light when a boy taking bath near the canal bridge located the car under water and informed the police.

SSP said that it appears that the accident took place last night after the driver lost control and the car fell in the canal.
Ever since July 27 when the victims had not returned home, their family had been looking for them and on July 30 had also lodged a case of kidnapping.
The bodies have been sent for the post mortem and the matter is being probed, police said.
