Six drown in MP

girls, were today drowned in two separate incidents in Madhya Pradesh, police said today.

Four girls drowned in a pond near Mandideep industrial area, they said.

The girls in the 8-12 age group, belonging to Nasrullaganj area, had gone for a bath in the pond when they drowned.

Three of the deceased - Sushila (12), Laxmi (7) and Preeti (8) were sisters - while Sonam (10) was their acquaintance.

Their parents work as labourers in Mandideep, police said.

District Collector M L Meena announced an ex-gratia of Rs 12,000 to the next of kin of each of the deceased.

In a separate incident in Sagar district, two persons drowned at a picnic spot near Rahatgarh, police added.
