Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) today demanded the Narendra Modi government at Centre to pick up a slogan "Made by India" for indigenous production of essential consumer items and development of small and medium industries.
"The speed of new government at Centre is very good, but it needs a change in direction specially in agriculture, Foreign Direct Investment, Genetically modified seeds, and growth of small and medium industries," SJM national organiser Kashmiri Lalji said.
He was expressing his views after passing of a resolution on the concluding day of the SJM's two-day convention "swadeshi sangam" here.
SJM demanded that "Made by India" slogan should be popularised with indigenous production of goods, consumer items, and there should be sustainable development in all sectors, quoting the resolution, he said.
Modi government should leave FDI's fascination or illusion specially in defence sector as no nation would be in a position to leak their technology to other nations, he said.
Public Private Partnership (PPP) should not be adopted as it would prove to be "public property piracy", he said, adding, Chinese goods flooding the Indian market particularly during Diwali should be contained, and public should be made aware of the facts.
The convention was attended by about 400 delegates from different parts of the country.
