Acting on a tip off, the STF team intercepted an ambassador car bearing Uttar Pradesh registration number and arrested the arms smuggler Niranjan Mishra and recovered three country-made pistols of 7.65 bore and 1000 ammunition of same weapon which he had hidden in a box under fuel tank of the four-wheeler, the STF IG Amit Kumar said.
A native of Choti Kalibari locality under Kotwali police station area of Munger district, Mishra had taken the said consignment of arms and ammunition from Ashik Ansari, hailing from Araila village in Darbhanga district to deliver the same to clients in Patna and Munger districts, he said.
Mishra has delivered supply of arms to clients in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and other states in the past and was arrested by Delhi police last year with 99 pistols, the STF IG said.
