Musician Ehsaan Noorani of the National Award-winning trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy feels it is not easy to impress listeners nowadays as they are exposed to all kinds of music, courtesy technology.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has hit the right notes in the past with albums like "Kal Ho Na Ho", "Dil Chahta Hai", "Bunty Aur Babli" "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" and "Rock On!!", among others.
Their latest work, "Dil Dhadakne Do", however met with mixed response. Ehsaan said there is a pressure to compose different music every time.
"There is so much music now. Our audience has become mature. You want to be different but need to retain certain aesthetic. Audience has been growing and there is so much pressure on us to be different without losing our own style," Ehsaan said while addressing a music workshop on the sidelines of IIFA 2015 Weekend and Awards here.
The 51-year-old musician, who was an advertising professional before, said the trio never takes itself as composers and is just passionate about its music.
"We are musicians not composers. We are passionate about music. We listened to everything that comes on our way be it international or old Hindi classics," said the trio's lead guitarist.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is not only credited with soulful tracks like "Kal Ho Na Ho" title track or "Dekh Na" from "Bunty Aur Babli" but has also given hit item numbers like "Kajrare" and "Main Aayi Hoon UP, Bihar Lootne".
When asked what goes into their mind when they compose item numbers, he said, "We completely follow the script. We don't compose item number thinking this would be something different.
