Lt. Gen. Mathson conveyed his greetings to all Infantrymen and called upon them to be always ready to defend the nation.
He also urged all ranks of the Infantry to continue to train hard, according to defence spokesperson Lt. Col. Manish Ojha.
The Infantry Dayis commemorated every year on October 27. It was on this day in 1947 that the Independent India launched its first military operations to defend and secureits territory.
Infantry, which is the largest fighting arm of the Indian Army, has been one of the most important key battle winning factors during all the wars and is also the mainstay in allCounter Insurgency OperationsandInternal Security Duties.
