The JD(U) today asserted that feud within Samajwadi Party has no impact in Bihar and said the party has no interest to "add fuel to fire" for taking advantage over it in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh poll.
"The feud within SP does not have any kind of impact in Bihar," state JD(U) President Basistha Narayan Singh told reporters.
In reply to a question about benefits the JD(U) would get in case of split within SP in coming UP polls, Singh said "the party has no interest in adding fuel to fire to derive political gains".
On raging infighting within Mulayam Singh Yadav-led SP, the JD(U) state chief said they wished the feud ended at the earliest.
"We desire that there should be no dispute anywhere in the socialist force," Singh, a close confidante of Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar said.
Singh was talking to reporters after former Lok Sabha Speaker P K Sangma's National People's Party (Bihar unit) led by Sanjay Verma merged with JD(U) today.
The Bihar JD(U) President said that the party national council meeting at Rajgir recently had expressed desire that Nitish Kumar should lead the efforts to unite socialist forces.
Former Prime Minister and JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and INLD chief O P Chautala expressed wish that an alternative force should emerge at national level, he said.
Even West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and JVM chief and former Jharkhand CM Babulal Marandi have supported this view, he said.
In reply to a question about "rift" within JD(U) and RJD, Singh denied any rift.
"There is no rift within grand secular alliance," he said adding soon a joint sitting of party chief of the three parties would sit in JD(U) office.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad and CM Nitish Kumar talk regularly, he said to lay stress on his comment.
