Samajwadi Party is not coming out openly against the "wrong policies" of the BJP as it has a "tacit understanding" with the ruling party at the Centre, BSP chief Mayawati today told Muslim electorates of Uttar Pradesh.
She also took a dig at Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who often refers to her as "bua" (aunty or father's sister) saying "babua" (baby boy) is on a spree of inaugurating projects, which are "still incomplete".
"The SP is unable to openly come out against the wrong policies and deeds of the BJP as there is a hidden understanding between the two. BSP, on the other hand, is openly taking on the BJP. The Muslim community is connecting to the BSP in a big way," she told a press conference here.
While the BJP has been targeting BSP and SP in poll rallies in UP, the BSP has been asking Muslims not to allow themselves to be "used" by the ruling party in the state to further its political interests.
The state goes to polls next year.
In its response to the Law Commission questionnaire on Uniform Civil Code, BSP has slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly imposing the agenda of the RSS on the people.
Instead of answering the 16 questions put out by the law panel, the BSP, in a letter to the Law Commission recently, said the BJP has been trying to impose the agenda of the RSS on the people ever since it came to power at the Centre.
