Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhury today appealed to the print and electronic media to give prominence to "positive and developmental" news and highlight those legislators who come prepared to speak on any topic during the Assembly session.
"If they get space in news, more and more legislators would be driven to come prepared to the House and conduct themselves better in the House," he said while addressing editors and state bureau chiefs of media organisations.
"Legislators say that while those disrupting House proceedings and raising slogans get good media coverage but those speaking on debate on any topic after preparing on the subject well are generally ignored... It discourages them," he said.
"If you give prominence to the pandemonium leading to adjournment you should also highlight the fact the so many business listed for the day have been affected due to disruption of house," he said.
The Assembly was also organising a special session with experts in Legislative Business to help the legislators actively participate in the proceedings during the monsoon session beginning next Friday.
A team of PRS Legislative Research which helps MPs in Parliament to arm them with details of any bill or research inputs on other issues would have special session with Bihar Legislators tomorrow to provide them vital tips for better performance in the session starting from July 29, Chaudhary told in a meeting of the Press gallery committee.
