Haryana Director General of Police B S Sandhu today said a special drive would be launched to crackdown on narcotics in the state.

At a programme organised by representatives of the Namdhari community against drug addiction at Jivan Nagar in Sirsa, he said stern action will be taken against those involved in such illegal activities.

"They would not be spared at any cost. Even their property would be attached. Apart from this, registration of vehicles being used in smuggling of narcotics and other illegal activities would be cancelled," Sandhu said.

Calling upon the people to extend their full support in the fight against drugs, the DGP said that some youths are falling prey to intoxicants.

"The youth should maximally increase their participation in education, sports and other competitions rather remain in the grip of drug addiction," he said.

Asserting that an educated society could provide the right direction to the youth, Sandhu urged them to avoid bad association and pay more attention towards education.

Earlier, the DGP inaugurated the building of DAV Police Public School in Sirsa and said extending better basic amenities to police personnel so that they can discharge their duties without any stress, is among their priority.

The DAV Police Public School has been set up for ensuring better education of the wards of police personnel. At present, 22 such schools are functional in Haryana with a total strength of about 16,000 students, he said.

These temple of learning are proving to be effective in providing quality education to the wards of police personnel, Sandhu said.
