"Spell out stand on not supporting AIADMK, DMK for 2016 polls"

Asking all political parties in Tamil Nadu to clearly spell out their stand of not supporting AIADMK or DMK for the Assembly polls in 2016, PMK today said it would welcome the support of any party.
"Political parties in Tamil Nadu, including BJP, should make their stand clear of not supporting AIADMK or DMK for the 2016 assembly elections. PMK has already decided to fight it alone and announced me as the Chief Ministerial candidate. We will welcome any party to support us," former union minister and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss told reporters here.
To a question, he said PMK has been extending support to the BJP-led NDA government and said the state BJP should come out openly on its stand of not supporting the two Dravidian parties in the polls.

The same holds true for Tamil Manila Congress, led by G K Vasan and main opposition party DMDK, led by Vijayakanth, he said.
Anbumani claimed the people of Tamil Nadu were yearning for a change of rule and would support PMK at the hustings, like the voters of Delhi and West Bengal who opted for AAP and TMC respectively.
He opined the state BJP appeared to be going soft on the AIADMK, judging by party leader Arun Jaitley's meeting with Jayalalithaa some time back.

Alleging that corruption and liquor menace are the major issues in Tamil Nadu, Anbumani, an MP representing Dharmapuri constituency, said it was surprising that the state with 7.5 crore population sells liquor worth Rs 21,000 crore, whereas Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 21 crore sells liquor worth Rs 12,000 crore.

On continued attacks on Indian fishermen, allegedly by Sri Lankan naval personnel, he opined that the only solution to end this was the retrieval of Katchaitheevu islet, ceded to Sri Lanka by India in 1974.
Reffering to the controversial comments by two BJP MPs on use of tobacco, Anbumani said various studies and surveys had clearly documented the ill effects of tobacco, vis a vis cancer.
"These MPs have no right to continue as members of Parliament," he said.
