Introduction of theSports (Online Gaming and Prevention of Fraud) Bill2018 in the Lok Sabha is a step to maintain integrity in sports, All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) said Sunday.
On Friday, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor introduced a bill, seeking setting up of an effective regime to maintain the integrity of sports in the country by preventing and penalising sports fraud.
The Sports (Online Gaming and Prevention of Fraud) Bill,2018is aimed to introduce an effective administration to maintain the integrity of sports in India by preventing and penalising sports fraud, and for regulation of online sports gaming, AIGF said in a statement.
All India Gaming Federation CEO Roland Landerssaid, "With the proliferation of sports leagues and the development of the sports ecosystem in India, the (Online Gaming & Prevention of Fraud) Bill 2018, will be a step in the right direction in order to maintain integrity in sports".
The All India Gaming Federation is a not-for-profit organisation, and focuses on policy advocacy, research and forum for discussion among various stakeholders associated with the online gaming industry.
