Tabassum and Tarannum, who are teachers in a nearby private school, were yesterday attacked by their neighbour Pankaj, who was in an inebriated state, police said.
The incident occurred at around 1.30 PM when the sisters were alone at their home as their parents went to Delhi. Pankaj, who was armed with an iron rod and a knife, barged into their home and hit Tarannum with the rod, police said.
As she rushed outside screaming for help, he stabbed Tabassum and injured her hands and legs, they said.
Tabassum accused Pankaj of stalking her on her way to school and throwing pieces of paper carrying his mobile number at her, a police spokesperson said.
She also alleged that a fortnight ago the accused had poured water and threw empty liquor bottles over their courtyard.
The accused was arrested and upon medical examination it was confirmed that he was intoxicated.
A probe is on in the matter.
