State cooperatives buying agricultural items from farmers
Press Trust of India Kolkata To save farmers from middlemen, West Bengal cooperative department is buying paddy directly from them at minimum support price, a state minister said today.
West Bengal Cooperative Minister Jyotirmoy Kar said the state government was also mulling the idea of creation of a cooperative corridor to facilitate the delivery of agricultural products directly from farmers to consumers.
There are a total 44 cold storages for the benefit of potato farmers in the state, he said.
